in the topic Screen Capture Programs in the forum All Things Considered
I would avoid Screenium. There is a serious issue with the audio getting out of sync if you pause your screen capture then continue. I emailed the developer and took months to get a reply and still no fix. I switched to iShowU and have had little issues with audio sync. It still pops up every now and then, but I quickly realized I can prevent it reliably my making sure my wireless is disabled and I eject TimeMachine so it is not try to do a backup in the middle of my capture. These fixes didn't seem to work with Screenium.

I sort have experience in this area. For some of my Calculus classes I have students show how they would work out a problem explaining step-by-step their thought process and word, just as if they were in front of a class. They use JING to do a screen cast on a TabletPC then FTP the file to our server. We configure JING so it will auto FTP for them. I then share everyone's work on a web page so they can see each others work. The comments I receive at first are typically something like "we don't have time to do this stuff" then at the end of the course when I have them do a course evaluation they almost always comment on how much they learned from the process. Not sure if this is what you were looking for or not.

in the topic Open/Closed Captioning and PCP in the forum Mac OS X Server and Services
OK, we have PcP up and running, works great - but sure wish we could specify a WIki Page, or select a specific WIki page for a video to go to rather than the blog only. This REALLY limits its usefulness in education - but that's really not my question.Open or Closed captioning of videos is a key issue in education. Anyone have any experience captioning videos from PcP? We can send .mov files out to be captioned and we get a SMIL file back, but the Apple server won't recognize the SMIL file so our video guy drops the SMIL file on a .mov (or .mp4) version of the video within QuickTimePro then recompresses to get Open Captioning, annoying for those not needing captioning. Anyone have any luck getting an Apple Server to play nice with SMIL files or find a way to caption .m4v files that come out of PcP (and stream AMAZINGLY well)?
