    I wonder…might not that eventually be broken by student and peer recognition online? I have little doubt that what you say is true at the moment. But my suspicion is that eTextbook authors will have access to the same sorts of analytics that iOS app authors do now. Nothing says "recognition" more than ten or a hundred thousand downloads. In other words, if fifty thousand students of all flavors download an eTextbook, it might be reasonable to assume that that represented its use in hundreds of bona fide courses. :)

Crazy thing is that I discovered that I bought just over 180 albums. At roughly $10 an album, I've spent pretty close to $2000 at the iTunes Store…and that's not counting my season passes for TV shows, like the recurring $9 I spend to get Colbert Report updates.

    I confess, I am an iTunes junkie. What is it that they say—the healing begins the moment you admit you've got a problem. :)

    ric, I think Atom is the heart of the problem. PcP2 publishes Atom feeds which are different enough from what most RSS aggregators expect so-as-to goof them up. I like your solution…it sounds as if your fix degronifies Atom enough to get Blackboard to accept it as straight-up RSS. :)

    in the topic Hosted sites…anyone notice a problem last week? in the forum iTunes U
    I was working on Duke's iTunes U site last week (I have permission to edit a couple of the course pages there) and I noticed a pretty funky problem. Just curious if others have seen it as well.By way of preamble, just wanted to say that Duke has a hosted public site…that is, the content for Duke's public site is hosted on Apple servers. If you've got an "new school" site that only uses RSS feeds from local servers, I am not sure you will have seen the same issue. Duke's public site is "old school".I noticed that after content was uploaded to a simple tab ("group") that it couldn't be moved or deleted without causing all kinds of display problems for the tab. Tracks would be displayed twice, or in the wrong order. Just all kinds of ordering wackiness. The only way I could find to fix the problem was to delete the tab and start from scratch. I noticed that the problem occurred about the same time as the most recent iTunes U update (but I do not know if there is any cause/effect relationship).The problem appears to be fixed now. And I'm not sure if it isn't just something that happened to me. But hey, if you noticed it, you are not going crazy. :)
